Get moving and get that project going

I've been a fan of the "Time management ninja" since I discovered his blog earlier this year. Each week there is a well written and useful article on some aspect of time organisation and improving productivity. The great thing is that the tips given are often useful in areas other than a business or work setting. The prevailing ethos is one to which I fully subscribe: that it is YOU that is at the centre of your success / failure and changing YOUR heart is the way to change your whole life. What seems to happen is that if you do this, then you will attract others to do the same and success is therefore "catching".
I like the way that it is aimed at ANYONE and not just those in a management setting
This book collects a number of the best of the motivational articles and is therefore unashamedly a collection of "articles". The book does not lose anything as a result. You can dip in or out as you please but there is no single narrative thread or constructed overall argument. Its strength lies in the fact that you can pick up anywhere and you do not need to read the whole book for it to make sense.
This is a factor I will bear in mind when I look to publish my collection of articles on Veterinary topics, a dream I have had for quite some time.......(see this book)
I'll be recommending this book to my colleague who is at the centre of such motivational work for our group. Normally when I write a review I tend to let out my pet niggles. I got through this book without having any.
Oh... and I need to design my annual Christmas card (I'll start it today!)

Bite sized tips for ramping up productivity

What I like about this is that the chapters are quick and easy to digest. The main point is made quickly and just as quickly illustrated with examples, so you don't have to make a major reading investment. Advice is constructive, but direct.
A list of reasons why being positive is beneficial? Awesome! I knew it's what people want, but now I know how I benefit from it too. A list of why I'm probably procrastinating, then a list of how I can get around it, and a list of possible roadblocks.
This book is the pep-talk to get you back into the ring, rather than the drawn out therapy sessions of other longer chapter books. The advice in here is highly non-technical, and geared toward people who are trying to lead productive lives. If a pep-talk on motivation might not be as useful for you as a therapy session, this probably isn't your book.

Tough love

I've recently become a student of personal productivity so I've been voraciously reading a variety books and blogs. Craig Jarrow's book delivers a healthy dose of tough love to motivate his readers.
Several years ago, I edited a client's manuscript, a daily devotional. The format and tone of "You Are Stronger..." (a compilations of blogs posts) reminds me that: no nonsense, straight talk from an expert with thought-provoking questions throughout.
I enjoyed both the style and the message!
