Bear Grylls is an adventurer, writer and TV presenter. A delightful read-highly recommended

Beautifully written, exciting and a great couple of adventures. I enjoyed reading it slowly as I almost didn't want to finish the book as I enjoyed it so much. Bear is modest, humorous, courageous, philosophical, and a seemingly great guy whom I would love to join one day if ever the opportunity would arise on another of his adventures! A great book.

I thoroughly enjoyed both these adventure stories - truly gripping in parts, I couldn't put the book down. It's given me a very good insight into what goes into the preparation of an attempt to scale Mt Everest, and how the experience can drain everything out of you, and at the same time test your endurance to the absolute limit.

Fall Into This Beautiful World

What I have always loved about poetry is its ability to allow another heart to transfuse yours. Another perspective, of the cracks or canyons, to shift our own landscape. Tyler Knott Gregson's poetry and photography point out the necessity of hope, the beauty that lies in wait: under the bed covers or within the mountains. He reminds us than passion is possible, and to always see with wonder and gentle eyes. Buy this book, and fall into a beautiful world, that shimmers through Tyler's lens and words.

My great nephew wanted a tropical fish encyclopedia. When I looked at what was available, there seemed to be two types: inexpensive books that only covered a few fish; and pricey, authoritative, comprehensive, multi-volume reference books. This book appears to be a good compromise between the two extremes. Too bad that it's out of print!

Howard Abadinsky is professor of criminal justice at St. John's University. A graduate of Queens College of the City University of New York, he has a PhD in sociology from New York University. Prior to entering academia, he was a New York State Parole Officer and Senior Parole Officer and a Cook County, Illinois, Deputy Sheriff/Inspector. He was a consultant to the President's Commission on Organized Crime and founder of the International Association for the Study of Organized Crime. Dr. Abadinsky is the author of several books, including THE CRIMINAL ELITE: ORGANIZED AND PROFESSIONAL CRIME; PROBATION AND PAROLE: THEORY AND PRACTICE; DRUG USE AND ABUSE; and LAW, COURTS, AND JUSTICE IN AMERICA.

Excellent book and has a detailed history of Organized Crime. I would recommend this book to any college student in criminal justice and for law enforcement officers.

Surely not the best Organized Crime text available.

While I'm sure that the information included in this text is accurate and useful, I find the many grammar errors and typos incredibly distracting. My guess is that no-one has a choice whether to buy this book- I'm sure it's required for a class, like mine was. However, if you DO have an option, maybe go with something else, or be prepared to overlook many errors and extra commas. I can't believe I paid so much for a book that just makes me want to get out my red pen and go to town making corrections.

What happened to the proof reader?

There are some nice tunes in this volume but it is full of blatant mistakes. It has numerous wrong notes, chord changes, rhythms, incorrect melodies, some tunes have the wrong bridge, key signatures that don't match the actual key of the song and even writing the some of the selections in bass clef. You can forgive a couple of small mistakes, but this goes beyond that to the point of not being a reliable fake book.
